7. JUNE 28 - Victoria & Butchart Gardens

 We were picked up at our Vancouver hotel today and found out we wouldn’t be returning for 14 hours!! We took the tour bus to the ferry, then the ferry to Vancouver Island harbor, then the tour bus to our destination: Butchart Gardens and Victoria, capital of British Columbia. We absolutely loved the beauty of the Gardens … were sad to not find the same joy in walking around Victoria we felt over 20 years ago on a brief visit during an Alaska cruise.

9. JUNE 30 Vancouver goodbye

  Today we are headed home in a couple of hours - we hope ! Our flight from Vancouver to Atlanta was cancelled due to a mechanics strike at WestJet Airlines. I worked with a wonderful agent from Delta to rebook our flights -now Seattle/Atlanta/Asheville. I have boarding passes but no seat assignments to Seattle so keeping our fingers crossed! Update: We’ve been assured we are on! Now to fun stuff!! Our last day in Vancouver was very fun:) we walked along Coal Harbor to Stanley Park and rode a horse carriage tour through the Park (lots of history and lovely sights). Ate lunch overlooking the Harbor! Girl in Wetsuit modeled after Little Mermaid, when Copenhagen artist refused permission to copy. 1. JUNE 20, 2024 Banff, Alberta

    BANFF  Banff, AB   We landed in Calgary last night with Sherye and Jack Cook, then drove to Banff. We spent the day hiking, picnicking and walking all over Banff National Park.
